The Central Kalahari Game Reserve is a vast wilderness area located in the heart of the Kalahari Desert in Botswana, Southern Africa. It covers an area of 52,800 square kilometers and is one of the largest game reserves in the world. The reserve is home to a wide range of flora and fauna, including some of the most iconic wildlife species in Africa.
The ecosystem of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve is characterized by vast open grasslands, dotted with acacia trees and scrub vegetation. The reserve also features seasonal pans, or shallow depressions that hold water after rain, which attract large numbers of herbivores and their predators. The terrain is flat and sandy, with some rocky outcrops and low hills in places.

Best Time To Visit CKGR
The Wet Season: January to May
Unlike other safari destination, January through to May is the best time to visit. During this ‘green season, the beautiful interdune valley become lush with vegetation, attracting thousands of springboks and gemsbok, in turn attracting predators also.
It is worth noting that the temperatures in the reserve can be extreme, with scorching hot days in summer and freezing nights in winter
